Taking FOREVER.....

Well, here's what I have done to date. I have 4 more to do...and of course it's the squares that have more colors hanging off the back. I'm not complaining...I should have done those first..and then the orange and yellow squares..they work up alot faster. I also think I am tired of working with all the brown. But I do love it, it is going to be so nice when it is all done.

Pics of Autumn Afghan

A close up of two more squares, there are 3 in each row, row one is done. I am on my 5th square, I wrote 4th below...wooohooo!

Just an update

Well I haven't posted in awhile, haven't really been busy..just can't get into a groove.I have been making charity squares, made 2 pink and white ones for a lady on Crochetville, and 2 green and tan ones for the comfortghan to be sent to Teri Irwin. I have 3 squares done for my Autumn afghan, a 4th one is started. I found the graph for the teacher and fireman afghans, that's going to be alot of work. The patterns call for single crochet, changing color as you go. But I don't want to do it that way. I am going to use the afghan stitch and make it up in sections. It will work out, just had to adjust it alittle. So...here is my list of afghans I plan on making this winter..
1.John Deer Baby Blanket(gift for family friend)
2.Pink Ribbon Cancer Awareness Afghan(Erica's Realy for Life Team)
3.Teacher Afghan(For JJ's teacher)
4.Bellwood Afghan(Graph made by me, for Communtiy Picnic)
5.Fireman Afghan(Would like to have this done for Fireman Convention)
That's it for winter! I can tell this will run into spring and summer as well!

Steeler's Stocking Hat

Here is the stocking hat, it wasn't hard to make..but does take alittle more time then I had planned. JJ really likes it and asked it he could have it for winter. They are a cute hat.

Autumn Leaves Square One

I have since scrapped the tree skirt I was planning on making. I did start it, but it wasn't working out for me. I then found the Autumn Leaves pattern. I really like the look of this afghan, and I am making for myself! I have never done the Tunisian stitch, so I had to learn. After pulling out the yarn three times I got it. I kept missing a stitch, and the square was very uneven. But I'm good now, and am working on the third block. It does get a bit frustrating when you have 3 or 4 different colors hanging off the back, and trying to keep all the skeins apart...lol. But it has such a nice look when it's done. I am going to make the pink ribbon afghan for Erica's Relay For Life team using this stitch. I will put the vein in the leaf when all the squares are done. Off I go....

WIP

I am now working on a Christmas Tree skirt. I don't think it will take long to do, the pattern seems easy enough. I finished the stocking hat and will post a pic later. I am getting tired and don't feel like messing with camera now. I also bought 2 patterns last night from www.e-patterns.com . The Autum Leaf and Butterfly afghan, I am giving the Butterfly one to my neighbor. I told her about it and she was very excited to see it. I am going to work on the Autum Leaf over the winter, and I am changing the colors. I don't want it so dark. Well..off I go!

Hat and Scarf

Here is my Mom's hat and scarf. It's so soft, that yarn would make a really nice afghan. To bad it's so darn expensive! I used Paton's Devine in Frost Green. One Christmas gift done!

Granny Baby Blanket

I made this baby blnaket for a co-worker of my DH's. He just had his first, a little girl. This worked up nice and fast. I used Caron Simply Soft, and just did a few granny squares, and then went around it in granny fashion. CUTE!

Bored

I finished the hat and scarf for Mom's Christmas gift this afternoon. I started to work on the stocking hat. I am going to make one in black, white and yellow (Steeler colors) and see if my friends on the reunion committee want to try and sell some at the street fair in October. If I sit down and do nothing else, I can crank one out a night. I will post pictures when I get this one done. And I will post a pick of Mom's hat and scarf later.

Granma's Blanket Done

I finished my Granma's afghan the other night, now that it is all done...I like the way it turned out. I wasn't real sure about the color combo at first, but it's all good. I know she will like it. I am going to work on the winter hat/scarf for Mom now. I did get the hat done last night, and started the scarf today. It shouldn't take long. Then I may try to make the fun hats for my friend who is in charge of raising money for our class reunions. I found the pattern online, and they seem like they would work up fast. We shall see....

Grandma's Afghan

This is what I am working on now, an afghan for my Grandmother. She will be 85 in August. She likes to cover up when she watches Lifetime movies, and she always takes the afghan I made for my Mom. So..I am using her two fave colors and making her one of her own. I have a bit more done then what's in the picture. I am only working on it during Big Brother. I like to sit and watch the live feeds, well...sit and listen to the live feeds while I crochet!

BB7 Started!! YAY!

YAY! BB7 All-Stars has begun! I am soooo happy that there is something to watch now! How awsome was it that Jase and Janelle put Alli and Dani up!! The look at their faces was classic! We subscribed to the live feed, so there goes any sleep I was going to be getting...lol! I am all about Kaysar, I hope he can get his game on soon, he looks so bored. And that Will...uggghhhhh...I want him gone and he can take Boogie with him! Just my thougths on that! I started my Grandmother's afghan, and it's coming along nicely. And on that note...I'm off .

This is a close up of the "blue devil's" tail that was cross stitched on to the afghan. I played with the idea of adding a pitch fork, but I think it would make the center to much of a focus point.

Well, it's done! Finally...
I finished it late last night(1:30am).
I am very happy with the way it turned out, it's very heavy.
It's just a little shy of queen size. I have it laying on our bed, it's the only place big enough to take a picture, and I still didn't get it all in!

6.22.2006

I took a break from the big afghan to make a baby blanket for a girl I use to work with. She is having her first baby in August, a little girl. I have been wanting to try this pattern, I like how it turned out. It was made using the Bernat Baby Stripes, working from corner to corner. It takes 3 skeins of yarn to make a blanket, but since I wanted to make the colors of the rainbow, I had bought 1 skein of each color. I have enough to make another one! Humm..wonder who is due soon?
It's very muggy today. I don't think we will be swimming on the account that I hate going out and pulling the cover off just to get in for 15 minutes and then have a downpour. The sun is out, but the weather is calling for storms this afternoon. So, I guess we will find something else to do.

I gave Sue Ellen her afghan, she was pleased. I went around it a few more times to make it wider, and I was happy with it then! After the Bellwood afghan I am going to make my Grandmother one...she doesn't have anything to cover up with while watching Lifetime! And her birthday is in August..she will be 85. She always take an interest in my projects, so I will have to hide this from her! She never crocheted or knitted, but she use to paint and latch-hook...and she likes to see how far I have gotten on something since the last time she visited. She likes pink, so my son and I went out and picked out the yarn...he did a good job. I am also going to try and whip up a baby blanket for a friend I use to work with, she is having her first baby in August...a GIRL! I was also very close to her Uncle Tom( has since passed). So I am going to surprise her with it. Busy Busy Busy!

6.02.2006

WOW! I am half way there! And this afghan is huge! It will be very nice when it is all done. I already have a person interested in ordering one...we shall see. I can't remember if I had mentioned before that this was for the Community Picnic that the town has each year. Tickets are sold for chances to win items that people in the community have donated. Last year there were some really nice things, a few quilts...and one gentleman made those really nice adorondack(sp?) chairs. I didn't win those :o( .

5.08.2006

I finished Sue Ellen's afghan awhile ago, but I think I might make a few more rounds on it. I'm just not happy with it yet.

The picture is showing it folded in half, it just doesn't seem wide enough, it's great for length. Anyone have any ideas? I went around it a couple of times to make a border, hoping that would make it wider, but it's not working out. Ugghhh!

I was going to give it to her this week, but I want to make it wider. I need to. But I don't want it to be all wappy and gooffy. I have dropped this to work on the Community Picnic Afghan I want to donante. And I am coming along...even worked out the word BELLWOOD on graph paper to make sure I could work it into the afghan, and it's gonna work..YAY! Yes..that's right...I said graph...I have so much faith in myself now!
